Practice Information

Registration

To register with the practice please call in and ask for a registration pack. Alternatively you can download the registration form from the forms tab above. You must have some photographic ID when registering.  This is a Health Authority requirement. Your registration will then be sent to the Health Authority for approval along with a request to your old GP surgery in order for your previous medical records to be sent to us.  You will be asked as part of the registration process to make an appointment with one of our Healthcare Assistants for a new patient check. You do not need to wait for this to happen before asking to see a GP.

Medical/Nursing Students

On occasion we have students in training sitting in with the nurses or doctors. The receptionist will inform you of this. Please let her know if you wish to see the doctor alone

History

Ramsey Group Practice was founded in 1966 when the existing Waterloo Road and Albion Terrace practices formed the new partnership. The practice opened on its present site in 1972 with four partners. The practice partnership now consists of eight full-time doctors, who are part of a primary care team providing health care to over 14,000 patients. The practice covers the northern plain of the island extending from Glen Mona to Kirk Michael. The main surgery is based in Ramsey. A further branch surgery at the Jurby Health and Community Centre opened in January 2012

The doctors are also responsible for in-patients and out-patients at the Cottage Hospital. They also provide medical cover for the Ramsey lifeboat crew.

The mosaic shield on the homepage of this website, by the late Frederick Firth, represents the Raven of Ramsey, the Owl of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the ancient medical symbol of the Staff and Serpent.
